It all began with Michael's first major spec screenplay deal announcement in Daily Variety.

Michael Tabb 

is a working screenwriter, 20-year member of the WGA (the Writers Guild of America, West, the film and television screenwriters’ labor union), an award-winning SAG-AFTRA actor, film school educator, and in the summer of 2024, director of the feature film Winter Breaks, based on his award-winning "Best Screenplay", currently in post-production.

With a big heart for mentorship, Michael is the co-founder and co-creator of the WGA's Mentor Program for the union's newest and most vulnerable members.

He’s agile enough to write horror for UNIVERSAL STUDIOS, family for DISNEY FEATURE ANIMATION, a period war epic for a production company at WARNER BROTHERS, a thriller released by SONY PICTURES, among other projects and genres, including heist, action, adventure, science fiction, swashbuckler, rom-com, several adaptations, and cut his teeth working with industry icons including Stan Lee and Dustin Hoffman.

Michael's has written two produced screenplays for Universal Studios, including Werewolf: The Beast Among Us (a reimagining of the Wolfman franchise) and The Car: Road to Revenge (a remake of the 1977 film). Prior to that, he was brought in work on Ring Around the Rosie, released by Sony Pictures.

Early in his career, Michael had the privilege of developing a comic book and cinematic projects for MARVEL COMICS legend STAN LEE, including working on The 7th Portal franchise (the first streaming hit in internet history to reach over half of a million views) and The Backstreet Boys comic. Before his passing, Stan asked Michael to develop a Ringo Starr show (think a beatnik spy comedy version of Austin Powers with versatile gadget drumsticks) at his company, POW! Entertainment.

Recently, Michael sold and rewrote his television pilot Capitol for Paragon Releasing.

He has also developed projects with Hivemind and a creative team whose credits include The Expanse, The WitcherSnake EyesCharlie’s Angels, The HuntsmanDisney’s Beauty & The BeastPercy Jackson: Sea Of Monsters, Diary Of A Wimpy Kid, TV’s Flash and Arrow.

Michael has developed feature films for Imagine EntertainmentMandeville FilmsIntrepid PicturesParadox Studios, Mystery Road Films, and The Canton Company at Warner Brothers.

He collaborated with producers Lawrence Bender (Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Hacksaw Ridge) Branko Lustig (Saving Private Ryan, Gladiator,  Schindler's List), Paul Schiff (Rushmore, My Cousin Vinnie, Young Guns), Sean Daniel (The Mummy franchise, TombstoneThe Witcher), writer/director Jonathan Hensleigh (The Punisher, Jumunji, Con Air,  and Armageddon), and Director Mike Newell (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Donnie Brasco, Prince of Persia, and Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire) to name a few.  

Tabb served as a script analyst for Alcon Entertainment, known for producing The Blind SideBlade Runner 2049The Book of Eli, and Insomnia, which had a put-deal at Warner Brothers. 

Michael has taught screenwriting for film schools at the graduate and post-graduate levels, including most recently EEI Creative Arts: School of Film & Entertainment, and MBC (Middle East Broadcasting Company). 

He serves on the WGA’s Writer’s Education Committee, and has assisted the Writers’ Guild Foundation Community Outreach Program by guest instructing on his craft to underprivileged youth in Los Angeles.  

As a mentor, Tabb served alumni of his alma mater, New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, and the Missouri Film Office’s Missouri Stories Scriptwriting Fellowship.

He lectured on screenwriting at Florida State UniversityUCLAUSC The Screenwriters World ConferenceNext Generation of Visual Storytellers Conference, and StoryExpo in Los Angeles and New York City, including serving as the opening keynote speaker for Robert McKee, Christopher Vogler, and John Truby at StoryExpo's THE MASTERS OF STORY conference.
